Dental Practice Management, Leadership, and Team Appreciation Ideas for July 2023

Dental Practice Management, Leadership, and Team Appreciation Ideas for July 2023

Hello Friends,

Here you’ll find some tips and ideas for how you can enjoy healthier, more productive schedules during the month of July and beyond.

Leadership & Team Building / Appreciation Ideas

It’s been said, “Whatever you’re not changing you’re choosing.” What are you choosing for your dental practice? Do your choices bring you closer to your goals or further away? If you’re not changing the things you know you need to change I encourage you to get the support you need to make the changes necessary to choose success.

July is National Picnic Month – Go on a team picnic for an extended lunch break or enjoy a picnic-style lunch in the office.

July is also National Ice Cream Month – Bring in a sweet ice cream treat for a nice afternoon pick-me-up for the team.

Practice Management Reminders –

December/Holiday Season – Look ahead to your hygiene schedules in November & December to make sure you set aside/reserve some appointment times for New Patients, College students, and Patients that wait until the last minute to use their insurance benefits. If you haven’t done this already, please set aside some time to do it as soon as possible.

Cell Phone Courtesy Month – a good time to review your employees’ personal phone use during work hours guidelines/arrangements.

Practice Owners, I would love the opportunity to work along with you and your team to help you uncover areas of opportunity, and set and exceed your practice goals. If you would like to schedule a no-obligation, complimentary consultation to learn how my coaching programs work, please email me at bhaydenconsulting@gmail.com.

Tips for Sprucing Up the Dental Office Break Room

Tips for Sprucing Up the Dental Office Break Room

Hello Friends,

Take a good look at your employee break room (or space). Is it past due for a good cleaning, decluttering, painting, and/or organizing?  Might not seem like an important space to give attention to but it is! Why? Because you and your employees deserve to take a break (& eat) in a nice, relaxing, and clean space.

Tips and Ideas to Spruce up the Lunch/Break Room/Lounge

Declutter & Organize the countertops, table, shelves, cabinets, and drawers.

Décor – add some nice pictures to the walls and freshen up the paint

Add some Extras – condiments, snacks, drinks, dishes/silverware, storage containers,

Charging stations for electronic devices, etc.

Bookshelf – add a bookshelf and some books to read during the breaks.

Baskets & Hooks – If this area also stores employees’ clothes, jackets, shoes, and purses/bags be sure to have labeled baskets to store personal items and hooks to hang coats.

Messaging Center – Hang a whiteboard or corkboard to share team news/messages, office happenings, team meeting dates and agenda, employee work anniversaries, etc.

TV Monitor & Computer – Install a large TV monitor for team meetings and continuing education courses. (A webcam/microphone is helpful too.)

Cleanliness Reminders for the team – Be kind & thoughtful – do your own dishes, wipe up spills/crumbs, refill the paper towel dispenser, don’t leave expired food in the fridge, and wipe down the microwave, or toaster oven after each use.

Beverage Containers – Rather than having unsightly, random water bottles, coffee mugs, and carry-out drink containers around the office – invest in some nice water bottles and coffee mugs imprinted with your office name for the team to use at the office.

Practice Owners – I would love the opportunity to work along with you and your team to help you set and exceed your practice goals. If you would like to schedule a no-obligation, complimentary consultation to learn how our coaching program works, please email me at bhaydenconsulting@gmail.com.

Fall Dental Office Management and Leadership Ideas for October 2022

Fall Dental Office Management and Leadership Ideas for October 2022

Hello Friends,

October is the start of your final quarter for the year. What do you have planned to help make this your best fourth quarter ever?

Here are some office management reminders and leadership ideas for October 2022

October is Employee Ownership Month – Encourage and lead your employees to take on an ownership mentality. The benefits: Taking ownership of your work helps with motivation in your job role, as it empowers you to ask questions, develop ideas, provide solutions to problems, be proactive instead of reactive, and ask for constructive feedback.  Employees can be the driver behind the success of the practice. It is vital that you provide your team with the support and resources they need to develop and become more engaged.

Doctors, if you would like to grow and improve your dental practice and have wondered what it might be like to work with me and what coaching is all about or would like to learn what opportunities for improvement exist in your practice... please feel free to reach out to me to schedule a complimentary, no-obligation coaching call at bhaydenconsulting@gmail.com.

Employee Appreciation Gift – Taco Day 4th – Bring in tacos for lunch for the team to enjoy.

Boss’s Day: October 17th – Plan now to make this a special day for your boss(es).  (Usually, it is on the 16th but moved it to the 17th because it fell on a weekend day.)  Plan now to make this a special day for your boss(es).

Practice Management Reminders & Ideas:

Insurance Use it or Lose it Reminders – Did you get your end-of-year insurance dental benefit, HSA, and FSA use it or lose it reminder letters/emails/texts/calls out?

Stay on Time & Take Control of your Schedule – If you’re often running behind schedule, investigate the reason(s) why. If you know the why… change whatever it is causing you to stray from the schedule.  If it’s your schedule that is the problem, remember this, you have control of who, what, when, and how the appointments are scheduled. Arriving at the office with plenty of time before the first scheduled patient, reserve time/holds for new patients, perio patients, and emergencies, expect your patients to arrive on time, never wait on hygiene exams, calculate the actual amount of time it takes to do procedures, and control the schedules, these things will help you stay on time and enjoy smoother, productive, and less chaotic days.

Dental Office Management and Leadership Ideas for May 2022

Dental Office Management and Leadership Ideas for May 2022

Hello Friends,

Are you looking for Marketing and Practice Growth Tips and Ideas for May 2022? Check them out here Dental Office Appreciation Ideas for Teachers, Nurses, and Police Officers during May 2022

and here: Ideas for May 2022

As you welcome in the second month of this second quarter, Knowing your practice numbers and doing something with what you know about those numbers is key to growing and improving your practice. Numbers tell a story. Numbers tell you if your practice is healthy or unhealthy.

Do you know what your office numbers look like? How many of your active patients are unscheduled? How many patients you’re gaining and losing each month? How many write-offs and adjustments are you making to patients’ accounts? You need to know where you’re at currently to know how to best care for your patients and what your potential for growth is. To help you get that data quickly, like within minutes – if your PMS is either Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental you can request a complimentary, no-obligation practice data snapshot here: Game-Changing Awareness from Dental Intelligence  – Within minutes we’ll identify your practice’s strengths and uncover hidden opportunities.  I am happy to assist you with this at no charge.

Hygiene Continuing Care Reminders –  Reach out to your unscheduled hygiene patients to remind them to schedule their all-important dental wellness visit. “Summertime is a great time of year and it can also be a busy time of year. We encourage you to remember to take the time to squeeze in your regular dental visit before the summer months fly by. Regular dental visits are so important to your overall health.”

Leadership

Unhappy leaders lead to unhappy teams. Negative, unhappy attitudes are contagious and will quickly infect your team. Please, don’t allow negative attitudes to infect your team. Set the example, start and end each day on a positive note. Remember, what you focus on expands. Focus on the good! Throughout the day, express your appreciation and gratitude for your team and the efforts they put forth to care for your office, your team, and your patients.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Team Appreciation Opportunity – National BBQ Day: 16th – Bring in a BBQ lunch for the team. OR National Pizza Party Day: May 20th – Bring in pizza for the team for lunch. Be sure to take pictures to share on social media.

Doctors, if you’re struggling to reach your practice goals or want to enjoy improved practice growth – feel free to contact me for a complimentary, no-obligation 30-minute telephone consultation at bhaydenconsulting@gmail.com to see if a coaching relationship is right for you.
